Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born March 22, 1976 in the Big Easy -- New Orleans, Louisiana where her father was attending Tulane University. Her father moved the family to Wiesbaden, West Germany while working for the military and then later to Nashville, Tennessee. Reese grew up to be the consummate southern belle.
She began modeling at age 7 and won first place at the Ten-State Talent Fair when only 11. She starred in her first film, The Man in the Moon, at age 14. From there her career exploded with movies like Freeway with Keifer Sutherland, Fear with Mark Wahlberg, Pleasantville with Tobey Maguire, and Cruel Intentions with Sarah Michelle Gellar. Later career highlights include Sweet Home Alabama, Vanity Fair, Walk the Line and the Legally Blonde films.
